Look Up, Explore & Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month under the stars! Join Latinas Leading Tomorrow and the Friends of Arlington’s Planetarium (FOAP) for their inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, an exciting evening bringing together culture, history, STEM, and the night sky! Whether you’re curious about space, love learning about history and culture, or just want to try something new with your family and community, there’s something for everyone. We have an entire evening of activities planned, starting at 6:30 pm, including two screenings of the Spanish-language planetarium show at 7:00 pm and 8:15 pm. Purchase your tickets for seating at one of the two shows and stay for the whole evening of festivities. Why You’ll Want to Join Us Experience a live cultural performance Kick off the evening with an exciting dance performance at 6:45 pm. See a film inside the planetarium Learn about the fascinating history, culture, and scientific knowledge of the Maya from a fulldome planetarium show, Fate of the Maya — FOAP’s first presentation of a Spanish-language film in the David M. Brown Planetarium. A brief tour of the night sky will follow. This film is recommended for ages 9 and older. Get hands-on with STEM Explore interactive activities and conversations with STEM professionals where you can ask questions and discover STEM in fun and unexpected ways. Look to the stars As weather allows, telescopes will be set up after dark for stargazing on the plaza. See what’s in the night sky and discover more about the universe. Celebrate culture & community Connect with LLT, Friends of Arlington’s Planetarium, and other community organizations while celebrating the contributions and achievements of the Latino community in STEM. Please arrive early No late entry to the planetarium is permitted once the show has started. Free parking is available. Food & Drinks Food and drinks are not permitted inside the planetarium. Light refreshments will be served in the performance and STEM activity space.
