Dive into fascinating local history while sipping on some killer cocktails and swapping stories about the old inlet and dam! HISTORY + COCKTAILS: CLOSING NEW INLET & THE SWASH DEFENSE DAM Ever wonder how the Cape Fear’s waterways were shaped into what we know today? This event explores the effort to close New Inlet and the story of the Swash Defense Dam — an ambitious chapter in the engineering and maritime history of the Cape Fear. What was the problem they were trying to solve? How did they attempt to change the waterways? And what did it mean for the communities, shipping and economy of the area? 🎙️ Local historian Jim “Boo” McKee will take us through the history, the challenges and the people behind the project. 🍹 And we’ll have a themed cocktail inspired by the evening’s topic to go along with the story. 📅 Wednesday, February 17 ⏰ 7:00–8:15 PM Want to eat? Come early or stay afterward and enjoy 20% off food for ticket holders. Join us for another night of local history, stories and cocktails—and discover a part of Cape Fear history you may have never heard before.
