Micro- and Nanoplastics in NC Oysters

Join Kaileigh Ault, UNCW grad student, as she shares her research on microplastics, storm surge data, and wildlife conservation in NC! Kaileigh Ault is a Master's student in Environmental Science at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), expecting to graduate this December. She currently works in the TRACE MNP Lab at RTI International, researching microplastics and nanoplastics in biological matrices. Kaileigh has conducted microplastic research with Plastic Ocean Project, studying contamination in North Carolina rivers, beach sand, otter and bear scat, and bottlenose dolphin stomach contents. Beyond plastic research, Kaileigh has interned with the National Weather Service, where she created a storm surge database to assess future coastal storm impacts, and has experience in wildlife management through bird banding, macroinvertebrate surveys, and non-invasive trapping methods. -- In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, NC State University will honor requests for reasonable accommodations made by individuals with disabilities.
