Hopkinton Resilient Land Initiative: Community Design Workshop

Learn more about Hopkinton’s natural and built environment, connect with neighbors, and help shape the future of two neighborhood sites! The Town of Hopkinton’s Resilient Land Initiative invites residents and community members to join us for a Community Design Workshop at the Hopkinton Senior Center on September 23. This family-friendly event is an opportunity to learn more about Hopkinton’s natural and built environment, connect with neighbors, and help shape the future of two community-selected locations—one along at Ice House Pond and one in Legacy Farms North. Through creative, hands-on activities, participants will share their ideas, priorities, and vision for these sites. Community input will help inform the final designs for nature-based green infrastructure solutions intended to reduce stormwater flooding while providing benefits such as improved water quality, cooler outdoor spaces, opportunities to connect with nature, and public health and quality-of-life improvements. The workshop will explore important design considerations, including environmental benefits, public health, accessibility, and community value. Hopkinton Resilient Lands Initiative The Town of Hopkinton has launched the Resilient Land Initiative. This collaborative project focuses on reducing stormwater flooding, preparing for climate impacts, and providing other public health benefits. The project will result in site-designs for two green infrastructure solutions that add natural features to urban spaces. Community members will select two locations, one in Legacy Farms and one along Main Street, and shape elements of each design.. The goals of the project are to: • Launch a community-led outreach and engagement campaign focused on land stewardship and resilience. • Co-develop two site designs at locations selected by community members. Design the site plans based on community input to help manage stormwater and reduce heat.
