A guided historical walk through Worcester using old photographs, maps and surviving landmarks. The Fall Castle Walk is a guided historical walk from Elm Park to Bancroft Tower through nearly two centuries of Worcester history. We begin inside Elm Park using old photographs, maps, surviving structures, sculpture, ponds and bridges to compare Worcester then with Worcester now.

From Elm Park, the route continues toward Salisbury Hill and Massachusetts Avenue before finishing at Bancroft Tower, the 56-foot stone landmark built in 1900. Along the way, we’ll look at how the landscape changed, what still survives and a few pieces of Worcester history that are easy to miss. The guided walk is approximately 90 minutes. The route includes a sustained uphill section after Elm Park. Guests who prefer to skip the climb may drive to Bancroft Tower and join us there for the final historical portion. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for fall weather. If conditions make the route unsafe or impractical, registered guests will be contacted.
