ICA Day at Asia Copper Week 2026

Under our theme “Powering Asia’s Next Growth Chapter,” ICA Day will bring together copper industry leaders and policymakers in Shanghai Asia accounts for more than 70% of global copper demand and will remain central to the industry’s future. In March 2026, China entered a new Five-Year Plan period at a pivotal moment for its economy, industrial development and dual-carbon goals. At the same time, India and Indonesia are accelerating infrastructure and manufacturing investment, while Japan and Korea are advancing electrification, digitalization, energy resilience and circularity. Across the region, the copper demand story is also evolving. The region’s growth will also be shaped by the conditions that enable investment and innovation. Evolving supply-chain policies, technology requirements, policy frameworks, and circular material flows can affect how quickly proven solutions are deployed and scaled. Established drivers—including power grids, transport, construction and appliances—are being joined by rapidly expanding applications such as artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centers, robotics and energy storage. China’s fast-growing energy storage market is a particularly visible example of how innovation can create new opportunities across the copper value chain and the speed of change of market drivers. Under the theme “Powering Asia’s Next Growth Chapter,” ICA Day Asia will bring together copper industry leaders, policymakers, market experts, and downstream users to consider two connected questions: • How will China’s new Five-Year Plan and Asia’s wider development priorities shape the region’s long-term copper needs and what are leading companies doing to meet those needs? • Which emerging sectors and innovations are likely to become the next major engines of copper demand? Through two high-level panel discussions, the event will connect policy with markets and ambition with implementation. It will also demonstrate how copper supports electrification, economic development, energy security and circularity across Asia.
