Join us at the FHMRI Cancer Impact Symposium 2026 to hear about cutting-edge cancer research from our early and mid-career researchers! Join Us at the FHMRI Cancer Impact Symposium 2026! Thursday November 26th in the Level 2 Seminar Space, Health and Medical Research Building, Flinders University, from 9am to 5pm. This year the symposium theme is “Emerging leadership and partnerships to drive lasting impact in cancer prevention, care and survivorship”. We will have keynote speaking presentations from three rising stars in cancer research leadership, and our panel discussion will focus on the emerging role of consumer involvement in cancer research. Our interstate keynote speaker this year is Dr Brooke Nickel from the University of Sydney, whose work focuses on evidence-based cancer communication, health decision-making, screening, overdiagnosis and the psychosocial impacts of cancer diagnosis and treatment. Dr Nickel is an NHMRC Emerging Leader Research Fellow and was awarded both the NSW Young Tall Poppy Science Award and the NSW Premier's Outstanding Early Career Cancer Researcher Award in 2025. We are also delighted to welcome two local keynote speakers: Dr Luke Isbel is a group leader at SAiGENCI, Adelaide University, specialising in molecular epigenetics, chromatin biology, transcription-factor regulation and functional genomics in cancer. A/Prof Carolyn Ee is an academic GP and cancer survivorship researcher at Flinders University, with expertise in primary care, cancer survivorship, clinical trials, co-design, qualitative research, evidence synthesis and implementation.
