Special Guest: Frank Pangallo From Journalist to Politician: Understanding Government, Advocacy and Strategic Communication We are delighted to welcome Frank Pangallo as our special guest for the October Adelaide Networking Connections event. Frank has spent more than 50 years working at the centre of journalism, communications, public policy and politics. His extensive career has included senior media and editorial roles, investigative reporting with Today Tonight, political media advising and serving in the South Australian Parliament. This unique combination of experience has given Frank a rare understanding of how newsrooms operate, how public opinion is shaped, how government decisions are made and how legislation can affect businesses, professions and entire industries. At our October event, Frank will take part in a special filmed interview exploring the practical lessons business owners can draw from his career—from the newsroom to Parliament. This will go beyond a general conversation about dealing with the media. Frank will explain how businesses can better understand government, advocate for their interests, communicate strategically and prepare for challenging situations. Helping Your Business Become Informed, Influential and Prepared Government decisions can create opportunities, introduce new obligations or significantly change the way an industry operates. However, many business owners are unsure who to approach, how to communicate their concerns or what they should ask government to do. During this honest and practical conversation, Frank will explore: ✅ How government policy and legislation can affect businesses and industries ✅ How to advocate effectively for your business, profession or sector ✅ Who to approach within government and how to make the right introduction ✅ How to clearly present an issue, proposal or request ✅ What to ask for when seeking government support or policy change ✅ How industries can protect their interests and ensure their voices are heard ✅ Why every organisation should have a media and crisis-management policy ✅ How to communicate when your business or reputation is under pressure ✅ How artificial intelligence is changing journalism and the wider media environment ✅ What businesses can do to remain informed, credible and prepared Frank’s straight-talking style and experience on both sides of the media and political landscape will provide attendees with insights that are rarely shared publicly. If you want to understand how government and the media really operate—and how your business can communicate more strategically within both worlds—this is a conversation you should not miss. Meet Your MC: Kat Miller We are excited to welcome Kat Miller as the MC of an Adelaide Networking Connections event for the very first time. Kat is the founder of Simplify Your App, a bespoke app-development service that helps small businesses turn their ideas into practical, working technology. She is also the creator of Oops! Accident, an Australian-made app designed to guide drivers through what to do following a vehicle accident—from the moment of impact through to completing and submitting an insurance report. Kat’s work is focused on solving genuine everyday problems through practical and affordable technology. With her welcoming personality, enthusiasm and passion for helping businesses, Kat will guide us through the October program and help create an engaging and enjoyable experience for everyone attending. Discover Something New in Our Members & Guests Showcase Our Members & Guests Showcase gives selected businesses the opportunity to step forward and share: ✅ Who they are ✅ What they do ✅ Who they help ✅ How their services may benefit others in the room Each participating business will also provide an exclusive offer created especially for Adelaide Networking Connections members and guests. These offers are generally available for four weeks or until our next evening networking event. The Showcase is your chance to discover a useful service, meet a business you may not have encountered before or access a special opportunity available only through our community. Our October Showcase participants will be announced shortly. Could You Be Selected for a Business Soundbite? Being visible begins with helping people understand who you are, what your business does and who you would like to meet. During the evening, up to five selected attendees will be invited to participate in one of our 2-Minute Business Soundbites. If selected, you will have approximately two minutes to answer three simple questions: • Who are you, and what does your business do? • Tell us one interesting fact about your business? • How can you work with other people in the room? It is a focused opportunity to introduce yourself to the entire room and make it easier for others to connect, collaborate or refer business to you. To be considered, select the Business Soundbite option when completing your registration. Places are limited, and participants may be selected at random.
