SA Future Energy Scenarios: Soft Launch and Discussion @ Future Energy Week Date: Wednesday 23 September 2026, 2:00 to 4:30 pm (doors open at 1:40 pm) Venue: Lecture Theatre 1, Flinders University Tonsley Campus, as part of Future Energy Week Free, registration required Forget men in leather harnesses fighting over the last can of petrol. Forget Tasmanians splitting beer atoms and inventing rock and roll. South Australia's real futures are more interesting. These scenarios weren't written in a back room. They began with more than 200 South Australians and international energy experts together in Adelaide Town Hall, and were then built, modelled, expert-reviewed and iterated across engagements, and given a live stress-test courtesy of an actual fuel crisis. Four energy futures for 2050, made in South Australia, by South Australians, and road-tested by reality. Four worlds to walk through: what happens if we drift, who owns the energy, what we make with it, and how much we actually need. Then two provocations to test them against: a missing corner (when we live our lives) and a shock that hits all four (what happens when South Australia is cut loose). This is the first soft launch, and you're not here to watch. Hear each future read aloud, sit with it, argue it out with your neighbour, then talk back: comment, critique, break them if you can. Everything you bring feeds the next iteration, because these scenarios aren't finished, they're working. We'll keep developing them and putting them to use, helping to shape South Australia's energy future for real. Free and open to everyone, no expertise required. The scenarios are not predictions and are not aligned with any party. They were produced independently by SA Futures Agency, with no commissioning client or sponsor, as an act of service to current and future generations of South Australians.
