Scenes from the Climate Era

Scenes From the Climate Era David Finnigan A couple debates whether to have a child. Scientists argue over a climate model. A frog calls for a mate that no longer exists. On a dancefloor, the party continues. Moving between the recent past, the present and possible futures, David Finnigan’s Scenes from the Climate Era captures the extraordinary—and ordinary—experience of living through planetary change. Funny, unsettling and unexpectedly tender, these short scenes bring together scientific discoveries, political manoeuvres, private dilemmas and startling possibilities. People argue, adapt, fall in love, make money and try to work out what comes next. Drawing on Finnigan’s years of collaboration with climate researchers, the play opens a conversation about the world we’re already living in—and the futures taking shape around us. Presented by Flinders Drama Centre’s Bachelor of Performance students. Performances: December 2, 3, 4, 7:45pm Location: Flinders University Drama Centre | Dance Studio, Bedford Park, SA
