Whānau Ora Wānanga – Adelaide Grounded in whakawhanaungatanga and kotahitanga, this wānanga is about creating a space where we can simply be Māori together, learning, sharing, laughing, moving, singing, creating and reconnecting with the things that nourish our wairua. Across the weekend, our whānau will experience kaupapa including Rongoā Māori, Te reo Māori, Waiata, Mau Rākau, Mahi Toi, and Hauora, with different workshops created for Pakeke, Rangatahi and Tamariki. For our Pakeke|Adults, there will be opportunities to deepen connection with rongoā Māori, make kawakawa balm, engage in te reo and waiata, and experience mau rākau. For our Rangatahi|Teens, the focus is on what it means to be Māori while growing up in Australia, strengthening identity, confidence, hauora and connection through te reo, waiata and mau rākau. For our Tamariki|Children, the weekend is about learning through movement, creativity, kapa haka, mahi toi and simply being surrounded by whānau and te ao Māori. This is not about how much reo you know, where you were raised, or how connected you already feel to your whakapapa. Come as you are. Whether you have grown up immersed in te ao Māori or you are only beginning to find your way back, there is a place for you and your whānau here. Sometimes reconnecting begins with simply being in the room, hearing the waiata, sitting alongside other whānau, watching our tamariki participate, sharing kai and remembering that our culture continues to live through us, wherever in the world we may be. Come and spend the weekend strengthening your wairua, creating memories with your whānau and building connections with our Māori community here in Australia. Nau mai, haere mai.
