About this event
Every young person is uniquely creative. Open Theatre Practice (OTP) provides the conditions for that creativity to thrive. This music-based, non-verbal practice is highly adaptable, enabling young people with mild to profound intellectual and multiple disabilities to participate, express themselves and engage with others.

Developed over 30 years by the Open Theatre Company UK, OTP is a joyful, evidence-informed practice that has been delivering remarkable outcomes with young people in Brisbane over the past three years. As well as learning the practice itself, you'll explore the values and principles that underpin OTP, an approach that extends beyond the creative arts to enrich the way educators and therapists connect, communicate and create with young people. The training includes links to the Australian Curriculum and the rare opportunity to learn directly from Richard Hayhow, Director of Open Theatre Company UK, alongside Brisbane's In-Person Creative team. We invite you to join us in this playful and practical three-day training. No drama experience needed!
