ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a two-day, evidence-based workshop that teaches participants how to recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide and provide immediate, life-saving support until further help is available. Designed for anyone aged 16 and over, ASIST is suitable for health professionals, educators, community leaders, first responders, peer workers, volunteers, and members of the public who want to build confidence in supporting someone experiencing thoughts of suicide. During this interactive workshop, participants will learn to: • Recognize invitations that indicate someone may be thinking about suicide. • Conduct a suicide intervention using the ASIST Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) model. • Develop a collaborative safety plan with a person at risk. • Connect individuals with appropriate ongoing support and resources. • Increase confidence in having conversations about suicide in a safe and compassionate way. ASIST is internationally recognized and delivered by accredited LivingWorks trainers using practical discussions, demonstrations, and skills practice in a supportive learning environment. Workshop details: • Duration: 2 full days (attendance on both days is required) • Includes: Participant workbook and certificate of completion • No prior mental health training is required.
