Brisbane Children's Writers Festival 2026

Do you have a budding young writer at home? Mark your calendar for Saturday 10 October when Queensland Writers Centre presents Brisbane Children’s Writers Festival (#BCWF2026). It’s a one-day festival of workshops covering poetry, illustration, action and adventure. Bookings are open to Youth Members of Queensland Writers Centre aged 10-16. Our 2026 theme is Plot: Crossing the Board. Young creatives will come together for a day of hands-on activities, peer support and feedback from authors and industry professionals. You must be a youth member to attend. Not a member yet? Join here before booking your ticket. Checking in on the day Check in from 8:30am at State Library of Queensland. To make parking and drop off easier, BCWF staff will offer a drop off/pick up service from State Library's bus stop/taxi rank on Stanley Pl. Drop off from 8:30am and pickup between 3:45pm – 4:00pm. Please let us know your drop-off/pickup/travel plans with your booking. #BCWF2026 is a Queensland Writers Centre youth member event. Rising costs have meant we needed to consider charging a small fee or discontinuing the festival. We love this festival and want to continue and we think you'll feel the same.
