A way of moving through the world that once protected us, shaped us or belonged to us… but no longer does. The Death & Rebirth card, number XIII of the Major Arcana, invites us to meet these thresholds with curiosity rather than fear. This month, we’ll journey into one of tarot’s most misunderstood cards and explore death not as something ominous, but as a natural and necessary part of transformation. Because before something new can fully emerge, something old often needs to be released. Together, we’ll explore the symbolism and wisdom woven through Chris-Anne’s Light Seer’s Tarot Death & Rebirth card, looking at its relationship with endings, surrender, identity, grief, transition and renewal. Each month we gather around a single card from the Light Seer's Tarot, exploring its symbolism, psychology, mythology and wisdom through both discussion and personal reflection. Whether you're completely new to tarot or have been reading for years, these evenings offer a beautiful way to deepen your understanding of the cards, offering insight into your own life, relationships and inner landscape. You do not have to know anything about Tarot to join in these circles, the tarot simply invite an enriching discussion on the chosen theme. All genders are warmly welcome. No previous experience is needed. OCTOBER CARD- Death Rebirth Death & Rebirth is the thirteenth card of the Major Arcana. A figure sits suspended between darkness and light, caught in the mysterious space between an ending and a beginning. Behind them, the sun rises… or perhaps it is setting. It is difficult to know. And that is part of the medicine of this card. Death & Rebirth is often associated with transformation, but its invitation asks something deeper of us. It asks us what we are ready to let die. An identity. A relationship. A belief. An attachment. An old way of protecting ourselves. A version of life that once belonged to us but can no longer travel with us into what comes next. Death & Rebirth reminds us that transformation is not simply becoming something new. There is often a necessary undoing first. A shedding. A grieving. A surrendering of what has been… sometimes before we have any idea what will take its place. This is the liminal space: the threshold between who we were and who we are becoming. It can feel uncertain, empty and uncomfortable, because there are moments when the old life has ended but the new one has not yet taken form. And yet nature reminds us that endings are not separate from creation. Leaves fall and become soil. Seeds split open beneath the earth. Snakes shed their skins. The darkness of winter quietly prepares the ground for spring. Death & Rebirth asks whether we can trust these cycles within ourselves. What has reached its natural completion? What are we keeping alive because we fear the emptiness its absence might leave behind? What needs to be grieved before it can be released?
