HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Course

Accidents and medical emergencies can happen at any time — in offices, warehouses, construction sites, schools, and community settings. Having trained occupational first aiders in the workplace ensures that immediate, effective care can be provided until emergency services arrive. An Occupational First Aid course is designed specifically for workplace environments. Participants learn how to assess an incident, apply DRSABCD, perform CPR, use an AED, manage bleeding, fractures, burns, medical conditions, and respond to a range of common workplace injuries and illnesses. Beyond the practical skills, the course also covers legal responsibilities, incident reporting, infection control, and how to maintain a safe first aid response aligned with Australian workplace health and safety requirements. Units included in the course include: • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid • HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid • HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy • HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources Having qualified first aiders onsite not only supports compliance — it builds confidence, reduces risk, and demonstrates a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing. Investing in occupational first aid training means empowering your team to respond calmly, safely, and effectively when it matters most. Training ensures designated workplace first aiders are prepared not only to respond in an emergency but to support compliance, safety culture, and staff wellbeing across the organisation.
