IAG Masterclass: Metalsmithing with Meekz Jewellery

Guided by jewellery artist Jemica Ostrofski of Meekz Contemporary Jewellery, explore the fundamentals of metalsmithing and learn how to transform recycled metals into your own unique piece of wearable art. Using recycled aluminium, copper and brass, you can choose to create a pair of earrings, a brooch, a keychain or a necklace. Learn hands-on techniques to shape, texture and bring your design to life, creating a piece that reflects your own style and creativity. Paticipants will leave the workshop with one finished piece of jewellery that they have made themselves and can be proud to wear! What to wear: Please wear closed-in shoes and workshop-friendly clothing. What to bring: Lunch and a water bottle. Your creativity and any inspiration photos or design ideas you’d like to explore! Materials: All materials and tools will be provided. The workshop will include a 30 minute lunch break to bring or grab a meal and socialise with the other attendees. Additional information: Location: Ipswich Art Gallery is located in the heart of the Ipswich CBD. Our public entrance is in d’Arcy Doyle Place, a pedestrian section of Nicholas Street between Brisbane and Limestone Streets. Parking: The Gallery does not have its own parking, however there is metered on-street parking on Limestone Street, Nicholas Street and Brisbane Street. Street parking is free on the weekends; please check signs for details. Ipswich CBD Parking (beneath Tulmur Place in the Nicholas Street Precinct) offers free parking on weekends. The car park entry is located on Bremer Street which runs parallel to the Bremer River. Public Transport: The Gallery is a short walk from the Ipswich Railway Station as well as bus stops. If travelling by train, alight at Ipswich Station. The Gallery is a 4-minute walk from the station. Walk left up Bell Street, right onto Brisbane Street and left onto d’Arcy Doyle Place.
