Self-care for the Carer from a holistic and scientific understanding Self-Care for the Carer: A Holistic & Scientific Approach When so much of your time and energy goes towards caring for someone else, what is happening in your own body and how can you care for yourself along the way? Join Senior Physiotherapist Nicolas Olguin and Osteopath Dr Cara Trowell for an interactive session exploring self-care through both a holistic and scientific understanding of the body. Together, we’ll look at how the physical demands of caring, stress, repetitive movements and everyday life can affect the body and explore practical ways to support movement, reduce strain and build greater awareness of what your own body may be telling you. Rather than self-care being another task to add to the list, this session is an opportunity to pause, learn about your body and discover realistic strategies that can be incorporated into everyday life. There will be opportunities to ask questions, participate in discussion and learn practical approaches you can take home and use in your own caring journey. Meet your presenters Dr Cara Trowell – Osteopath Cara holds a Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy), with further studies in vertigo, headaches, Clinical Pilates and Dry Needling. Her approach focuses on understanding the structural and biomechanical factors contributing to pain, discomfort and injury, and addressing these through a range of therapeutic techniques. Nicolas Olguin – Senior Physiotherapist Nicolas brings his physiotherapy knowledge and experience to explore how movement, body mechanics and physical wellbeing can support carers in looking after their own bodies while meeting the demands of a caring role.
