Develop practical skills to write clear, concise government briefs, briefing notes and executive summaries for decision-makers. Strong briefing skills are essential in government and public sector roles, where complex information often needs to be communicated quickly, clearly and accurately to support decision-making. This practical one-day workshop will help you develop the skills and confidence to write effective government briefs, briefing notes, executive summaries and other concise documents for managers, executives and key stakeholders. Through guided activities and real-world examples, you'll learn how to structure information, tailor your writing to your audience and present recommendations in a clear and professional way. Whether you're preparing briefs regularly or looking to refine your business writing skills, this course provides practical techniques that can be applied immediately in the workplace. Eligibility and entry requirements To enrol in this course, you must be aged 17 years or older, and be one of the following: • an Australian citizen or permanent resident • a New Zealand citizen • the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa • an eligible temporary visa holder as defined in the CIT Admission and Enrolment Policy. • an employee of the ACT Government Delivery mode • Face-to-face course delivered on-campus (7 hours) What you will learn By the end of this course, you will be able to: • structure government briefs and briefing notes clearly and effectively • present complex information in a concise and accessible way • write for executive and decision-making audiences • develop clear recommendations and key messages • edit and refine documents to improve clarity, accuracy and impact.
