We’ll follow ecologist and passionate conservationist Andrew Dinwoodie, coordinator of BirdLife’s Brisbane Powerful Owl Project since 2021, for an illuminating walk and talk about Australia’s largest and most impressive owl species. Drawing on extensive experience in natural resource management, threatened species recovery and citizen science, Andrew will share insights into the Powerful Owl and the important work helping to understand and protect this remarkable species. Whether you have an interest in the use of technology in the field or are a budding citizen scientist this is an unmissable opportunity to help contribute to our knowledge of the wonderful diversity of species in our protected spaces! IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU REGISTER • This event is designed for adults and children aged 16 years and over. • This is an outdoor walk in a bushland environment with steep unsealed tracks. Participants must be physically able to be stand and walk through a park for up to 3 hours - moderate fitness required. • You must register and secure a ticket for all people attending. Spaces are limited. • Detailed event information will be sent to the email address provided upon registering. INFORMATION FOR THE DAY OF THE EVENT: • Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the event to check in. • Please wear fully enclosed shoes and suitable clothes for the outdoors. Bring drinking water, torch or headlamp, insect repellent and mobile phone for logging observations. • This event promotes citizen science using iNaturalist and eBird, to get the most out of this experience please have a current versions of these apps installed with an account if you wish to participate. • This event may be cancelled or postponed if the weather conditions aren't suitable. We will notify you via text and email no later than 1 hour prior to the start of the event.
