Follow your Recycling Tour 2026

Ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it leaves your kerbside bin? Or are you a recycling sceptic? Join Brimbank City Council for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Cleanaway’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Laverton. Meeting at Brimbank Community and Civic Centre, we will travel by bus to the facility, where you will get to see what happens to your recycling after collection day in action - how it gets there, how it's sorted, the impact of contamination and how to recycle right! Whether you're passionate about sustainability, curious about recycling, or simply want practical tips for reducing waste at home, this tour offers a unique opportunity to ask questions and learn directly from local experts. All we ask is that you bring your curiosity and lots of questions! Please note that this tour may include stairs, uneven ground, potentially slippery surfaces and indoor and outdoor movements. As they are industrial facilities, there will be load noises and smells. Travel is by bus. This event is for people over 16 years old. We are unable to take children on these tours.
