Professor Joan Beaumont will lead this walk covering locations important durng the Great Depression of the 1930s. As a working class industrial suburb Brunswick was impacted by the Depression of the 1930s. It was also notable for protest movements including Noel Counihan's famous stunt where he had himself locked in a cage. Professor Emerita Joan Beaumont is the author of Australia's Great Depression - the definitive book on the subject. The walk will cover sites of significance in this turbulent perioid.
