🌕 Mid-Autumn Mooncake Making Workshop The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time to remember our traditions, gather with one another, and think of the families and friends we hold close, whether they are beside us or far away. To celebrate this special festival, we’re hosting a Mooncake Making Workshop, bringing together food, tea, conversation and the traditions that connect us to home. 📆 Date & Time: Sunday, 20 September, 11am – 4pm 📍 Location: Shop Bao Ngoc, 387 Victoria Street, Brunswick VIC 3056 🎟️ Cost: $30 per person ✨ Limited to 20 participants — tickets via the link in our bio The ticket price helps cover the cost of ingredients and workshop materials, as mooncake ingredients can be quite expensive. Guided by Delilah and Jun Qiao we’ll make two kinds of mooncakes: 🥮 Traditional red bean paste mooncakes, which will be baked and left overnight to develop their flavour and texture. 🥮 Modern snow-skin mooncakes, soft, delicate and ready to enjoy. Along the way, we’ll share tea, chat, make mooncakes together, and try our hand at Chinese calligraphy。 The Mid-Autumn Festival has long been a celebration of reunion, togetherness and home. For those of us living away from where we grew up, it can also carry another meaning: the feeling of missing the people, places and roots we have left behind. Chinese literature is full of this feeling of looking at the moon and thinking of those far away. Li Bai wrote, “I raise my cup to invite the bright moon; with my shadow, we become three.” Su Shi asked, “When will the bright full moon rise? I raise my cup and ask the jade-green sky.” This Mid-Autumn Festival, let’s gather together, share food and stories, make mooncakes with our own hands, and enjoy a little 花好月圆 — beautiful flowers, a full moon, and the warmth of being together. Each participant will make approximately four mooncakes, with any remaining ingredients available to take home or use to make more. 🌕 Come make a mooncake, share a cup of tea, and celebrate what “home” means to us.
