Surprise Chef are the Melbourne based quartet whose cinematic blend of soul, funk, jazz and forgotten soundtrack worlds has taken them from humble home-studio sessions to stages around the globe. Formed in Coburg, the band began by chasing spontaneous grooves recorded straight to tape, only to uncover a creative chemistry that would become the foundation of one of Australia’s most distinctive instrumental groups.
