Art Steps Clay workshop with Billy Bain

Join respected First Nations artist Billy Bain for an afternoon of creative and playful fun with clay! In this 1.5-hour workshop, Billy will lead participants in creating their own dog sculpture using air-dry clay, inspired by his own recognised practice. 'In my ceramic work I like to use pointy tools to carve into the clay to create linework and detail, much like sketching out a drawing. This is called sgraffito! I see my sculptures as being an extension of my drawing practice. It is like bringing my drawings to life!' - Billy Bain This workshop is presented in association with MAC yapang’s current exhibition National Gallery Tour on Tour: Of This Earth, where Billy Bain has a major artwork on display. Of This Earth is a National gallery Touring Exhibition supported by The Australian Government through Visions of Australia. KEY INFORMATION • Participants will take home their artwork at the end of the workshop • This is a free workshop, but registration is essential • All participating adults and children require a ticket • Capacity is strictly limited.
