Join Coal and Cedar for an in-person Día de los Muertos celebration honoring loved ones with food, music, and community. A Day of the Dead costume party at Newcastle’s hidden speakeasy. $16 margaritas, tequila specials and candlelit altars. Sat 31 Oct from 5pm. Two nights to honour the dead, and Saturday is the first. 💀🕯️ This Halloween, Coal and Cedar is celebrating Día de los Muertos. Our 1930s-style speakeasy at 380 Hunter St becomes a candlelit altar of marigolds, sugar skulls and agave for one night. What’s on 🍹 $16 margaritas all night 🥃 Tequila specials 💀 Costume party: come dressed for the dead, and the best costume wins 🕯️ Day of the Dead décor and altar Getting in Coal and Cedar is a hidden bar. Find the plaque at the door and text the number to be let in. Doors open at 5pm. Good to know • 18+ only. Bring valid ID. • Space is limited, so RSVP to secure your spot. • Costumes encouraged. Sugar skulls, florals and veils all welcome. Work in hospo and stuck on shift Saturday? Our Industry Night is Monday 2 November, from 5pm.
