School holiday workshop: Spirit animal sculptures

Be inspired by the vibrant ceramic sculptures in Of This Earth and create your own spirit animal from air-dry clay. Guided by artist Tahlia Riley, students will explore how artists use clay to express stories, ideas and connections to the natural world, before sculpting a unique creature of their own. A fun, hands-on workshop celebrating creativity, imagination and artistic expression. Details: • Ages: 10-16 years. • When: Wednesday 7 October • Session times: 9:30-11am, 11:30am-1pm OR 1:30-3pm • Cost: $20 + booking fee, Lake Mac Arts Member $16 + booking fee • All materials provided About the venue MAC yapang (Museum of Art and Culture, yapang) is located in Booragul on the shores of Lake Macquarie. The venue offers step-free access, accessible amenities, accessible parking and public spaces designed for ease of movement. About the artist: Tahlia Riley (b. 1992, Western Australia) is a mixed European and Aboriginal artist based on Awabakal Country, NSW. Working primarily with ceramics, her practice explores memory, storytelling, culture, and connection to Country. Tahlia holds a Diploma of Ceramics and has been a finalist in the Wynne Prize, Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, Burwood Prize, Gosford Prize and MAC yapang Art Prize.
