Full description from organizerShow less
This presentation by researchers from WestPride Archives explores the early history of the Gay Olympics in Perth and the reason they started. In 1979 a ‘hand bag throwing’ competition was only one of the many Gay Olympics events raising money for an important WA institution. In 1994 Team Perth, part of a combined Australian team attended the Gay Olympics in New York. Come along to hear how the Gaymes began in WA. westpridearchives.org.au Hosted by sports afficionado Danae Gibson. This is also an opportunity to bring any donations of items, photos and stories connected to the Gay Olympics. Bring them along and we will accession them on the day.
