Finding Your Voice: Public Speaking & Community Advocacy

Want to feel more confident speaking up for your community? This practical workshop is designed specifically for community groups and community makers who want to strengthen their voice and have their ideas heard. Come along, build your confidence, and leave feeling more prepared to speak up for the things that matter to your community. Participants will leave with the confidence and practical skills to: • Speak confidently in public • Present ideas clearly • Advocate effectively for community issues • Influence decision-makers respectfully • Handle nerves and difficult questions Coffee, tea and a light lunch will be provided. Length 3 hours of interactive workshop with a lunch break provided. Start time Event activities will start on time, but if you are running late, you may still join. Location Inside - Marlak Room Requirements None Type of event and expectations Adult learning space - Guests are requested to turn phones to silent, where possible, remain seated for the duration of the event, be respectful to facilitator and attendees alike and exit discreetly when needed. Guests assume responsibility for their own safety. This event is not suitable for children. Accessibility This is a sitting event. Accessible parking is available at front of EcoHub, rooms are located on multiple levels via a ramp and toilets are available within the venue. A bus stop, just a 2-minute walk away, is conveniently located near EcoHub and services multiple routes. EcoHub is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop in the Piney Lakes Reserve. To reach us, if heading westbound, take the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway. If coming from the Fremantle area, continue on Leach Hwy across Murdoch Drive and use the designated U-turn just after the lights to move to the westbound lanes. Go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first left. Please park in the signed public carpark.
