Join us for an informative talk at the award-winning Catalina Sustainable Home, featured in Episode 15 of Dream Homes Revealed, airing on Saturday, 10 October. Griff will explain the fundamentals of passive solar design and demonstrate how these principles have been incorporated into the home. After the presentation, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the home, see the features discussed and ask questions. The talk will cover: • What does “north-facing” really mean—and don’t all blocks face north? • What is the difference between passive solar design and Passivhaus? • Demystifying NatHERS energy star ratings, net zero and carbon-positive homes • What is thermal mass, and how is it used? • Where and when should insulation be installed? • How breeze paths and airflow can naturally cool your home • How construction materials affect your home’s comfort and energy performance Event Details • Date: Sunday 18th October 2026 • Start: Registrations open at 8:30am, with the talk starting at 9:30am. Please arrive by 9:00am to ensure we can start on time.
