Poetry at the Pub

It's back! The ever-popular Poetry at the Pub returns to explore the theme 'What is a Map?' through the words of both seasoned and emerging poets. Settle in with a meal and a drink at the cosy tavern, or sign up for the open mic and share your own poem. Feature poets: Judith Huang is the co-founder of Chilli Jam Open Mic. Her novel, Sofia and the Utopia Machine, was shortlisted for the EBFP and Singapore Book Awards. A Centre for Stories Hot Desk Fellow in 2024 and shortlisted for the Pearl Prize 2025, her poetry album ‘fire in the desert’ can be heard at judtheobscure.bandcamp.com Dr Nandi Chinna works as a research consultant, creativity facilitator, and poet based on unceded Aboriginal land in Boorloo (Perth), and Bunuba lands in Fitzroy Crossing, WA. Her poetry has its genesis in a strong determination to craft creative works and poetry as a response to the ecologies and layers of history attached to particular places. Nandi is the author of four poetry collections. The Future Keepers (Fremantle Press) was shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Literary Award in 2020 and was highly commended in the Victorian Premier's Prize 2019. Nandi was awarded the 2021 Western Australian Premier's Writing Fellowship.Her fourth poetry publication, co-authored with Niykina Elder Dr Anne Poelina and the Martuwarra Fitzroy River, was released by Fremantle Press in August 2024 This event is part of Melville Storylines Festival 2026.
