Shakespearean Soirée

Two seasoned Shakespearean performers, Josephine and Charles Mayer of Come You Spirits Theatre, along with son Harley, present an intimate yet edgy performance celebrating the wit, words and enduring brilliance of William Shakespeare. Expect memorable characters, clever wordplay and some of the Bard’s finest moments brought vividly to life. You certainly don’t need to be a Shakespeare scholar to enjoy this one - just bring an appreciation for good stories, wonderful language and connection through live performance. In these experienced hands the Bard's timeless words take on a unique resonance, where language meets laughter, and Shakespeare's magic feels close enough to touch. In the splendid King George room of the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel you will experience theatre without formality. You can move around, to the bar or a different seat for a new perspective. It’s perfect for the whole family when you’re in the action and spoken to in Shakespeare’s words, though there’s no participation needed! Journey through a spellbinding selection of scenes threaded together by your hilarious hosts — the enchanted mischief of A Midsummer Night's Dream, lovers at odds in Antony and Cleopatra, mistaken identity in Twelfth Night, the star-crossed longing of Romeo and Juliet, boudoir banter in Othello, the contest of wits in The Taming of The Shrew, and even a surprise cameo from Queen Elizabeth the First herself! With consistent ★★★★★ reviews for their touring productions in the wild and in Performing Arts Centres across the county, this is a rare opportunity to catch Come You Spirits and meet the principal cast.
