Art Engage

Art Engage is Hazelhurst's arts health program that uses creativity and conversation to support people living with dementia. More than an art class, it offers an immersive experience where art becomes a way to spark meaningful discussion, build connections, and encourage personal expression. Engaging conversations: Led by our trained gallery educators, sessions encourage thoughtful discussion about artworks, designed to resonate with participants' experiences and memories. Creative artmaking: Hands-on sessions artmaking sessions offer a therapeutic, empowering way for participants to express themselves. Why Choose Art Engage? • Tailored for dementia: Understanding the specific needs of people living with dementia, our program is crafted to be accessible, engaging, and comforting. • Expert-led sessions: Our gallery educators and guides are not only experts in art but are also trained in engaging effectively with people living with dementia. • A sense of identity and joy: Through art and conversation, participants rediscover their sense of identity and joy, often obscured by the challenges of dementia. Free, bookings are essential. Please note: These free sessions are reserved for individual community members and their family member or care giver.
