Guided Spotlight Walk - BioBlitz@Croom 2026

Join ecologists from the University of Wollongong as we look & listen for nocturnal wildlife like Sugar Gliders, Frogs and Tawny Frogmouths. Ever wondered what wildlife comes out after dark in Croom Reserve? Join ecologists from the University of Wollongong, including Katarina Mikac, as we are taken on a free guided spotlight walk through Croom Reserve. On past spotlight walks we have seen Sugar Gliders, an Eastern-Long Necked Turtle and Tawny Frogmouths in this special patch of bushland in Croom Reserve known as Illawarra Lowlands Grassy Woodland. This event is designed for adults and families with children 10yrs+. Due to the nature of walking at night near creeks and looking for noise-sensitive animals, this event is not suitable for younger children. Please book 1 ticket for EACH person attending this session. This activity is part of the 2026 BioBlitz@Croom, where we are trying to record as many plants, animals and fungi as we can on November 6 and 7. Bring your sharpest wildlife spotting skills as we aim to identify as many animals as we can and upload records into the citizen science apps iNatuarlist and FrogID. This event is organised by Shellharbour City Council’s Environment Team as part of the Sustainable Shellharbour education program.
