Near Me vs. Search: Which to Use and When

Eventovia has two different doors into the listings, and they answer two different questions. Neither is the “better” one — they're built for different moments.

Near Me: for “what's around me”

Near Me uses your approximate location to jump straight to your city's event page — no typing required. It's built for the moment you want to browse what's happening locally without deciding on a city first. If your location can't be detected, it falls back to a plain list of cities to pick from.

Search: for a keyword, or a city you're not in yet

Search works differently: you type a keyword — an artist, a venue, a series name — and optionally narrow it to one city from a dropdown. It's the right tool when you already know what you're looking for, or when you're planning ahead for a city you haven't traveled to yet.

What happens after you land on a city page

Both paths eventually put you on the same kind of page: a city's event list, with tabs for today, tomorrow, this weekend, or the week ahead, plus filters for category and free events. That part doesn't depend on how you got there.

A simple rule of thumb

If the question is “what's happening around me,” start with Near Me. If the question is “where is this specific thing happening,” start with Search. Once you're on a city page, the date and category filters do the rest.
