Are We Alone in the Universe? | Live Lecture + Stand-Up Comedy Toronto

A fascinating look at Jupiter’s icy moons, the hidden oceans beneath their surfaces, and the possibility of life beyond Earth. What if some of the most promising places to search for life aren’t planets at all, but moons orbiting a distant giant planet? Far beyond Earth, Jupiter’s icy moons may hold vast oceans hidden beneath their frozen surfaces. These distant worlds could offer clues to one of humanity’s biggest questions: could life exist somewhere beyond our own planet? Dr. Robin L. Metcalfe is a passionate science educator with over two decades of experience teaching physics and astronomy at York University. Through her teaching and public outreach across Canada and the United States, she makes the wonders of space accessible to audiences of all backgrounds. On November 27th, Robin joins us at Laugh & Learn to explore Jupiter’s icy moons, the science behind the search for extraterrestrial life, and what this quest might reveal about our place in the universe. Here’s how the night works: First → stand-up comedy to warm up the room Then → Robin takes the stage for a fascinating live lecture followed by audience Q&A. What you’ll explore: * Why Jupiter’s icy moons are among the most intriguing places to search for life beyond Earth * What scientists look for when assessing whether a distant world could support life * Why humanity continues to search for life beyond Earth, and how the discovery could change our perspective on ourselves and our planet This is for you if: * You’re curious about alien life, space exploration, and the possibility of oceans beneath the ice of distant moons * You enjoy big scientific questions that make you look at our own planet a little differently * You want a night that’s genuinely funny and leaves you thinking about the universe long after the show ends Details: 📍 Venue: Ace of Spades, 536 Manning Ave, Lower Level, Toronto, ON M6G 2V7 📅 Friday, November 27th 🕖 Doors 6:30 PM | Show 7 PM ⚠️ Small intimate venue.
