Guided Nature Walk

Join this nature walk and explore the wildlife and environment! Join Professional Biologist Zac Wulf Gillrie for a beginner-friendly guided nature walk exploring the wildlife and natural environments of Calgary's Bow River corridor. Participants will learn how to slow down, observe their surroundings, and develop a “search image” for finding wildlife by recognizing movement, sounds, tracks, signs, habitat features, and other clues. Through simple guided observation exercises, participants will practice the same basic skills biologists use to locate and observe wildlife in the field. No previous wildlife or naturalist experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to slow down, look closely, and discover what is happening in the natural world around them. Meet up spot at: Eau Claire Plaza - artificial beach with yellow chairs and umbrellas Workshops are recommended for people ages 16 and over. Children under 16 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children). The workshop is admission by donation! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies. If you have any questions, please email us: [email protected] ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: Zac Wulf Gillrie is a Professional Biologist and the founder of ZWULF INC., a wildlife and environmental consulting and education company based in Western Canada. His love of nature was fostered from an early age through the teachings of his grandmother and adventures into the mountains with his mother, experiences that shaped his lifelong connection to the natural world. Today, Zac combines his professional experience in wildlife conservation with his passion for environmental education and increasing accessibility tonature, helping people develop the skills and confidence to explore, observe, and feel more connected to the world around them. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a charity based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists. Alcove Centre for the Arts has two locations: Alcove Core and Alcove Beltline. Alcove Core (244 7 Ave SW) is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative! Alcove Beltline (1040 8 St SW) is a multi-use, flexible venue that is available to book for private or public events. If you are looking for an affordable space that has equipment rentals available, in a central location, for 75-100 people at a time, then this space may be a great fit for you!
