Too anxious to try improv? this group is for you! This four-week workshop presents anxiety management skills and their application to everyday life in the context of learning theatrical improvisation. The class will focus on the nervous system, the fight/flight/freeze response and how to use mindfulness, self acceptance and compassion to manage emotional overwhelm. Participants are supported through beginner improvisation exercises which teach a step-by-step approach to collaborative creation. Anxiety makes us say 'No', feel isolated and attempt to control things. Alternatively, improvisation trains us to say 'Yes', step forward, live in the moment and respond to what comes trusting that we, and the people who support us, can handle whatever comes. With respect, consent and safe levels of challenge we stumble towards magical creativity. Please note: Improv for Anxiety takes place over four sessions. The dates for this group are Oct 3rd, 10th, 17th, & 31st, from 10:30am-12:30pm.
