Patchwork Play: Slow Stitch Social

Take a break, slow down, and enjoy the tactile process of creating a hand-stitched fabric collage! Workshop attendees will learn about the art and craft of slow stitching, experiment with different fabric, stitches, and knots, and create their own artworks rich in texture and pattern. Together, we’ll discover the playful possibilities of textile art while enjoying a relaxed, hands-on creative experience. 16+ | All materials are provided. | No experience required Patchwork Play is part of the Art Gallery of Guelph’s Sunshine Studio Series, a welcoming, creative, and social space where community members 16+ are invited to gather, connect, and explore their creativity through a series of guided beginner-friendly activities. Designed for students, emerging professionals, and anyone looking to connect with others while exploring new artmaking techniques and materials. Each workshop offers an opportunity to learn something new and enjoy an evening of creativity and conversation! This workshop is facilitated by Kira Alexanian (she/her), Programs & Digital Content Associate at the Art Gallery of Guelph. Kira graduated from the University of Guelph’s Studio Art program in 2023, where she specialized in textile art, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Her artistic practice is rooted in exploration and play—approaches that also shape her facilitation style.
