From Many One: Comes Music

Let's come together as a community and create a beat! Join us at 519 School of Hip Hop on September 26th as we kick off the first of three sessions in our project, From Many One! We would love for you to come watch, experience and support our pre-selected community members with their diverse cultural experiences come together to co-create of a piece of music. This will be our first step in our exploration seeing how diverse perspectives and backgrounds influence the development of various creative works. From Many One, Comes Music - Episode 1 What To Expect: Our first episode is all about creating music, pulling from the various perspectives of our pre-selected participants. This episode will be facilitated by DEEM J, where he will be translating the ideas of our participants along with his own into a professionally co-produced piece of music that will then be used as the foundation for later sessions in the project. In attending, you will be part of our audience who will be able to watch this process unfold with the potential of having your own ideas influence the direction of the music being created in real-time. Since this is a privately funded project, we do ask that if you have the means to, please pay what you can (PWYC) at the time of securing your ticket or by contibuting to our donation boxes that will be setup at the venues of each session. This event will be recorded. All footage captured may be used in the final documentary. By attending, you are consenting to being recorded and to being included in the documentary. About The Project From Many One Inspired by the cultural history of Hip Hop and the circumstances that it blossomed in, From Many One aims to create a cultural melting pot right here in London, ON. Similar to the one that existed in New York in the 1970s that served as the foundation for the now globally accepted culture called Hip Hop. The amalgamation of cultures through Hip Hop serves as a clear example of a community thriving despite the many cultural differences between individual active members, in fact, thriving as a result of such. We aim to host safe spaces for participants to interact contributing to the common goal of creating art that is representative of themselves and their cultures. We have 3 sessions that we will be hosting, the first centering on music, the second on movement and the last on visual art with each being influenced by it's prior sessions. I.e., the music inspires the dance which inspires the visuals as a part of a large domino effect. The project is lead by 519 School of Hip Hop and Liming TV. Each session will be captured and docmented by Omar Pusey from Liming TV and produced into the documentary called From Many One. Want to get involved?
