About this event
Join the Tristan Ducharme for a a guided event surveying nocturnal insects at the Meadowlilly Environmentally Significant Area This is the second of two guided events this week surveying nocturnal (especially moths!) biodiversity around Meadowlilly. The event will be hosted by Tristan Ducharme. We will meet at the Meadowlilly Bridge, located at the end of Meadowlilly Road South.

Free street parking is available on-site. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. This hike will be on uneven terrain and is not wheelchair accessible. It's helpful to have a flashlight or headlamp to navigate around the area in the dark. Macro lenses work best for photographing these subjects. Feel free to bring a lawn chair to rest while we wait for moths to appear. This is a ‘come and go as you please’ event so you can pop over anytime between 9pm-11:00pm. You can stay for the full event or just pop in for a short time. All ages are welcome. Check out the TTLT (Thames Talbot Land Trust) Meadowlilly ESA project on iNaturalist for a sneak peek at some of the spiecies we might see -- > https://www.inaturalist.ca/observations?project_id=74773 The mothing sheets/lights will be set up on either side of the bridge in the Thames Talbot Land Trust meadow and the forest. Macro lenses work best for photographing these subjects. It's helpful to have a flashlight or headlamp to navigate in the dark and see all the fun insects that visit the sheets. This event relies on proper weather. If it is too cold, windy or raining then we will cancel the event and notify you by email at least a couple of hours in advance. Please download iNaturalist in advance to be ready to make observations for the Great Canadian BioBlitz! You will have to "Join" the project for your observations to count in the event - "The Great Canadian BioBlitz 2026". Canada’s biggest nature challenge is back!
