Niagara Afro Festival: Royal Gala and Awards Ceremony

Join us in person to celebrate African culture, talent, and community at Niagara’s Royal Gala and Awards Ceremony! Niagara Afro Festival: Royal Gala and Awards Ceremony Join us for the grand finale of the Niagara Afro Festival: The Reconnect Royal Experience—an unforgettable evening of African culture, royal heritage, fine dining, and world-class performances. Presented by African Women Acting (AWA) in partnership with Kakekalanicks, this prestigious finale brings together artists, entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, and community members from across the global African diaspora. We are honored to welcome His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, attending as Royal Patron alongside his Ayaba and a royal entourage from Oyo, Nigeria. Before ascending the historic Yoruba throne, His Imperial Majesty lived and worked right here in Canada as an engineer—making this royal visit a powerful testament to global reconnection, heritage, and unity. Highlights of the Evening • Live Performances: The afternoon festival builds into dynamic live musical, dance, and drumming sets from local and international artists. • World Premiere: 'One Circle Many Relations'—a 60-minute musical theatre production co-produced by AWA and Kakekalanicks, featuring a powerful collaboration between African and Indigenous artists. • Royal Gala & Industry Excellence Awards: Celebrating outstanding leaders, artists, and innovators across the diaspora. • Authentic African Cuisine: Enjoy a curated dining experience showcasing rich culinary traditions. • Cultural Networking: Connect with entrepreneurs, dignitaries, and cultural pioneers. Supporting a Purpose: Proceeds from the gala support the Baobab Arts & Culture Centre (BAC Centre) project in Niagara Falls, funding critical renovations and providing scholarships for emerging artists.
