Join ORSA for a tour presented by Parkin Architects at uOttawa Advanced Medical Research Centre University of Ottawa-Advanced Medical Research Facility (AMRC) is located at 451 Smyth Road (General campus of TOH), adjacent to the existing Roger Guindon Hall (RGN). It is a research lab building including animal care and veterinary services (ACVS) labs, Faculty of Medicine labs, Innovation hub, Canadian Nuclear lab (CNL), etc. uOttawa envisions AMRC to fill gaps in the regional capacity for advanced medical research, commercialization, and application of novel therapies. It will propagate multi-disciplinary collaboration among health care providers, entrepreneurs, and governments to advance the field of medicine and promote social and economic prosperity. The site is accessible by bicycle, public transit and has a parking area. There are 2 main entrances to the building on the east and west side. The building is 24,754sqm in area featuring a central atrium spanning floor 2 through 6. The first floor is dedicated to ACVS and integrated with the existing ACVS in RGN on the same floor. There are connections between both buildings at Level 2 and 3 as well. This provides a seamless integration of workflow between them. Level 4 -6 are shell space for future labs and support spaces. High demand of building services, which is typical for a lab building is consolidated in certain areas as catwalk on level 1, main electrical rooms on level 2 and a dedicated mechanical penthouse.
