OSGC October Book Club: Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery

Join us this October as we read Slewfoot, a dark folk-horror tale of witchcraft, persecution, vengeance and female rage. Looking for a read that’s dark, witchy, and perfect for October? This October, we’re reading Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery by Brom, an atmospheric folk-horror novel exploring witchcraft, religious persecution, vengeance, survival, and female rage. Set in Puritan New England in 1666, the story follows Abitha, a young widow struggling to protect her home and independence within an unforgiving community. When an ancient spirit awakens in the nearby forest, Abitha must decide whether it is a demon, a protector or something in between. Dark, immersive, and beautifully illustrated, Slewfoot offers plenty to unpack about power, belief, oppression, and what happens when someone who has been pushed aside finally fights back.
