Kinusaiga (Fabric Art) Workshop (Port Hope)

Learn the Japanese-inspired art of Kinusaiga, a unique fabric art technique that creates intricate, textured designs without any sewing. Host: Artilily & Co. Saturday, January 16 | 1:00–3:30 PM Location: Gooseberry Studios 41 John Street, Unit 8, Port Hope, Ontario Located in The Granary Building. Free parking is available on the side of the building. Please use the back entrance: From Lent Lane, go to the rear of the building and up the deck stairs to the very top. Enter through the door, and you’ll see the Gooseberry Studios sign. Unfortunately, the building is not wheelchair accessible and requires participants to make it up a flight of stairs. We apologize for this. Description Slow down, get creative, and discover the beautiful Japanese-inspired art of Kinusaiga — a unique fabric art technique that creates intricate, textured designs without any sewing! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll create your own fabric artwork, choosing from a variety of fabrics and several beautiful templates to make a piece that feels uniquely yours. You’ll be guided through the process step-by-step, so no previous art or crafting experience is needed. This is a forgiving, beginner-friendly craft. Your evening includes: • Your own framed artwork to take home • Lots of fabrics to choose from so you can personalize your piece • A selection of templates to choose from • All materials and step-by-step instructions No sewing required! Whether you're a seasoned crafter or haven't picked up a creative project in years, this is an opportunity to try something new, enjoy a relaxed evening, and make something beautiful along the way. Come solo, bring a friend, or make it a creative night out. This workshop is created for adults, howeverm youth are welcome to join. Please note that this craft requires the use of an X-Acto knife. Participants 16 and under must be accompanied by a participating adult.
