Full description from organizer

You are invited to join the community for a screening of The Good Canadian, followed by a panel discussion of justice in the province. Truth. Conversation. Action. The Good Canadian is a powerful documentary that examines the systems and policies that have shaped the experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada, tracing a path from the Indian Act and residential schools to the systemic inequities and family separation that continue today. Through the voices of experts, advocates and people working on the front lines, the film challenges Canadians to look beyond national narratives and confront the truths that reconciliation requires. Following the screening, hear from two advocates featured in the film: Brady Knight, a Saskatoon-based lawyer, and Ernie Louttit, a former member of the Saskatoon Police Service. The panel will be moderated by Legal Aid Saskatchewan's Shaina Lynden, Director of Indigenous Services and Relations. Shaina will also introduce to the community ᑭᐣᑐᐦᐸᑕᑎᐣ Kintohpatatin, a new holistic initiative Legal Aid Saskatchewan is developing to support Indigenous clients through culturally responsive, connected care in the justice system. This is the 3rd annual Legal Aid Saskatchewan movie night in recognition of Saskatchewan's Access to Justice Week (October 26-30). This year's theme is Access to Justice in Action: What Works, What’s Next, and highlights practical, people-centred approaches to access to justice, focusing on successful initiatives, lessons learned, and emerging opportunities to strengthen justice outcomes.
