Building More Than Buildings: Lessons from Architects Who Made Canada Home

An evening with three architects on career journeys, lessons learned, and finding home in Canada — celebrating five years of SOSA Canada. Join SOSA Canada at WZMH Architects for an evening of conversation with three architects about their professional journeys, the lessons they've learned, and the experiences that have shaped their sense of home. Careers are shaped by more than the projects on a résumé. They grow through relationships, decisions, moments of uncertainty, and opportunities that open new doors. This conversation invites us to hear the stories behind those moments and reflect on what they can teach us about our own paths. Meet the speakers • Supreet Barhay, Principal at WZMH Architects • Roopneet Singh, Associate at WZMH Architects • Rohitesh Shekhawat, Sr. Project Manager at WZMH Architects Bringing perspectives from different stages and roles within practice, our speakers will explore career growth, finding your footing in Canada, and the connections that help turn a new place into home. What to expect An engaging panel conversation about the professional and personal sides of building a career in Canada. We will explore questions such as: • What helped you find your footing in the architecture profession? • Which decisions or experiences changed the direction of your career • How have relationships, mentorship, and community shaped your journey? • When did Canada begin to feel like home? • What would you tell someone starting out today? There will also be opportunities to ask your own questions and connect with others in the architecture community. Come with your curiosity, whether you are looking for perspective on your next step or simply interested in hearing how others have navigated theirs. Celebrating five years of SOSA Canada This evening also marks five years of SOSA Canada. We will take a moment to reflect on our journey, celebrate the people who have helped this community grow, and look ahead to what we can build together. Whether you have been with us from the beginning or are meeting us for the first time, we would love to share this milestone with you.
