Fuckup Nights Toronto is part of a global speaker series where stories of failed businesses and projects are shared. Each speaker is given 10 minutes and is able to use 10 images. After each speaker, there’s a Q&A session, as well as time for mingling and drinks! Agenda: 6:30 - 7:15 pm: Registration, meeting fellow community members 7:15 - 8:45pm: Fuckup presentations + Q&A 8:45 - 11:00pm: DJ and more mingling with fellow community members! Speakers: 🎤 Nora Jenkins Townson, Founder of Bright + Early (a company that builds great places to work), and Early Magazine (a magazine about the future of work). Before that, she worked at a number of Toronto tech fixtures, holding their hands as they scaled from scrappy to “3 kinds of kombucha on tap”. She’ll be speaking about the accidental email that let an entire company see what it wasn’t supposed to, told by the person paid to prevent exactly that (her). 🎤 Qasim Virjee, Founder of StartWell (the all-inclusive campus for happier company events), has had a career that spans the early internet, DJing, music publishing, festivals, film, venture acceleration, coworking, hospitality, branding and real estate. He’ll be sharing some of the fuckups, pivots and lessons from a career that has taken a few unexpected turns. 🎤 Natasha Aquin, Founder of Arvo (private nature estate set on 30 acres of forested land in Grey County) and Managing Partner at Unbound. She will revisit a purpose-led community she co-founded in 2017. It gained momentum quickly, but the founders eventually realized they had different visions for where it should go. A story about alignment, partnership and what happens when a good idea meets very different ideas about its future. And taking the stage as our ✨ GUEST HOST ✨: 🎤 Simba Wakatama, Founder of FLO100, where he finds your ideal clients and brings them into curated events so you can close deals faster. He previously led Partnerships & Experiences at OneEleven, where he worked with companies including Apple, Google Cloud, Cisco and CIBC. But before the big brands, Simba had two startups with real momentum…and two decisions that quietly lit them on fire. 👀 He shared that story at a past Fuckup Nights event and now he's back to host the night!
