Poetry Night 013-the Music of Things

a space to hear and to be heard & to get us closer to feeling and understanding poetry in different languages . I got reminded of a famous phrase in a famous book on the first scene at the opening it goes like: “in the beginning there was word” Apparently word seems to have lost some of its meaning in translation- as happens always- and apparently it is a translation from the term “logos” in Greek. Logos contains much more than just word. It looks to me like the possibility of being, a movement, and a synchronization. So why not say in the beginning there was music? Is not everything a music? And at what point do words begin to grab on it? And what is an original move-ment? —- And this is yet another pretty random observation on how to situate the necessity of music. It loosens us from the tight knots of daily thinking—those invisible bounds that structure our minds without us knowing. In poetry, abstraction becomes a freedom: a way to shift your focus, to save your energy for wandering through a world that is easier—maybe kinder—to think in. In that field, one poem may feel like another. You might say, “I’ve read something like this before.” And that’s true—because in this open plain, all poems are, in a way, similar. They’re equal invitations to explore. That’s why it makes perfect sense to bring poetry together across languages, forms, and even into visuals. The field welcomes it all.
