Learn the fundamentals of drawing in this beginner-friendly sketching class in Toronto. No experience needed. All materials provided. Sketching from Scratch is a monthly drawing workshop hosted by Erik Mohr, Creative Director of Made by Emblem, at the Toronto Art Club. Created to make drawing approachable, engaging, and accessible, this ongoing series welcomes artists of all skill levels to learn and strengthen their drawing fundamentals in a relaxed, community-focused environment. Each workshop explores a different aspect of drawing through historical references, guided exercises, worksheets, and observational practice. Whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to refine your existing skills, Sketching from Scratch provides a welcoming space to build confidence and develop your creative practice. This month's focus is: Line and Contour All skill levels are welcome. No previous drawing experience is required, and all materials are provided. What to Expect Sketching from Scratch is an informal monthly workshop designed to encourage curiosity and creative growth. Each session includes: • An introduction to a core drawing technique or artistic concept • Historical context and inspiring visual examples • Guided worksheets and practical exercises • Drawing practice • Individual exploration and discussion • Music, light snacks, and a welcoming creative atmosphere Cost • $45 – Standard Admission • $25 – Student & Financial Assistance Ticket (limited quantity) What to Bring Materials are provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a sketchbook or additional paper if they wish to continue experimenting during the session. Finding the Toronto Art Club The workshop takes place at the Toronto Art Club (Studio 305), located at 401 Richmond Street West, Toronto. The studio is on the third floor at the northeast end of the building. The building can be a bit of a maze, so we recommend arriving a few minutes early. We'll have signs posted to help guide you to the studio.
